From the Author:
From the author Mindy Bingham
Minou was a dream I had after visiting with a very good friend who was an artist. Over dinner we talked about collaborating on a children's book along the theme of my bestselling book, Choices A Teen Woman's Journal for Self-awareness and Personal Planning. I wanted to do an allegory that would convey the message that one must be able to support oneself and not wait for others for their financial security.

As I left her house that evening I noted a picture she had painted of Siamese cats. I awoke at 3 a.m. after a vivid dream and scribbled the plot. I then waited til 6 am to call her because she was leaving early for a flight to Paris to paint a sporting event. She was not happy that she" died" in the story, and needless to say did not want to do the book.

This was Itoko Maeno's first children's picture book and it took nearly a year to complete. Minou has sold over 100,000 copies world wide and is published in seven other countries. Since then Itoko and I have done over 15 books together and this Firday we start the illustrations for our newest book, Mama Knows Best. This is my first children's book in nearly seven years.

Among my books, Minou shall always be a favorite.
