This biography of the Nawab, Sir Salar Jung, one of India's most outstanding statesmen of the 19th century and Prime Minister of Hyderabad from 1853 to his death in 1883, concentrates on his relations with the British and their colonial administration and is written from his point of view. The book draws upon archival material as well as stories and anecdotes concerning the statesman. The author, who has also written "The Days of the Beloved" about Mahbub Ali Pash, lived in Hyderabad for 25 years.
