Guru Nanak, saint, philosopher and founder of the Sikh religion was born in 1469. The "Hymns of Guru Nanak" contains some of the finest devotional poems from the sacred book of the Sikhs, the "Adi Granth". The hymns, with their stress on chanting the name of God, expound the message that the way to self-realization lies in love, devotion and service to man and God. In addition, the author includes a chapter on the life of Guru Nanak, telling of the spiritual struggle he went through to create the Sikh religion. The artist Arpita Singh, captures the poetry and imagery of the hymns in her specially commissioned paintings and drawings. In addition to the colour plates there are line drawings and symbols on every page. The text is printed on natural shade parchment.
