David Tinkler has written nine novels for children, including three in his popular
Dinner Ladies series and Time Child, which was praised by the Guardian as ‘a strikingly original novel ...positively brimming with exuberance’.
David Tinkler began his career with Odham's Comics where he worked on the old Eagle subbing Dan Dare scripts and writing cross-heads for Jenning's episodes. He eventually went freelance, surviving for seven years by writing obituaries and an annual history of the world for an encyclopaedic Year Book. He is now the warden of an adult education institution in a remote part of Devon where he writes a children's book a year. He is married, and they have three daughters.
