Describing the planning and execution of the Allied invasion of France 6 June 1944, this book then goes on to detail the subsequent battle for Normandy and the Allied invasion of Southern France (Operation Anvil/Dragoon). It concludes with a description of the liberation of Paris 25 August 1944. Eight historians have been commissioned from America, Britain and Germany to contribute to this book. The stills photographs originate from 15 sources in five countries. The photographed artifacts are from 15 museums and seven private collections located as far apart as Abilene, Kansas and Paris, France - items such as General Eisenhower's "In case of failure" message. Bernard Nalty has also written "War in the Pacific", and Russ Pritchard was also the consultant for the "Rebels and Yankees" series.
