Synopsis
Lucy Lambton's best-selling "Temples of Convenience" was an enjoyable and lavish photographic history of the lavatory. She has now photographed a wealth of chamber pots in their many forms and disguises. Once again, there is to be found an extraordinary beauty in many examples, with tasteful invention at its zenith, often for purposes of camouflage. Many of the pots are major works of furniture, and when appropriate these are shown in rooms to indicate their actual settings. Accompanying them is a brief anthology of quotations about pots and their use, from their invention by the Sybarites to more recent times. Lucinda Lambton, a professional photographer for over 20 years, specializes in architectural photography, and has a strong passion for glamorous interiors. She insists on quality, and is prepared to go to great lengths to ensure that her pictures live up to her own high standards.
