Available for the first time as a set, the first volume of the catalogue raisonn comprises 1236 individual works from all periods of Vasily Kandinsky's career, including watercolors, oil paintings, India ink drawings and sketches. The second volume is devoted to Kandinsky's thirty-eight sketchbooks. A companion to Volume One which focused on his individual drawings, it illustrates and documents his sketchbook pages, with drawings dating from 1889 to 1943, many of which have never before been published. Both volumes include essays by the author - an internationally recognized Kandinsky scholar - which address aspects of his work that have not previously been studied.

About the Author:
Vivian Endicott Barnett was formerly Curator at the Guggenheim Museum in New York. She is the author of the high acclaimed two-volume Kandinsky Watercolours Catalogue Raisonn published by Philip Wilson (1992,1994) as well as Vasily Kandinsky: A Colorful Life. The Collection of the Lenbachhaus Munich (1995) and The Blue Four at the Norton Simon Museum (2002). A member of the Soci t Kandinsky, Barnett is an internationally recognized Kandinsky scholar.
