From the Publisher:
Collection of essays on borderlands of south-east Ulster
Most of the essays which make up this volume were given as papers at the first Cuchulainn Summer School in Carlingford. The aim of the school was to examine the 'debatable lands' - south Down, north Louth, south Armagh and south-east Monaghan. From the time of the Tain, this has been a complex area of fluctuating political, social and economic fortunes for various groups. The book contains a valuable range of papers from a study of pre-historic times to changes in the economy in the eighteenth century and political developments in the nineteenth century.

The different skills and approaches of the various authors have created a volume of wide interest not only for people who belong to this area but also for those who appreciate the importance of the study of regional society.
