Glenford Deroy Howe is a Research Officer at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill, Barbados. He has written and published extensively in the areas of Health and Education. His doctoral thesis, on which this book is based, was made into a documentary film and broadcast on Channel 4 TV, UK, in 1999
