Levy edited the poem and supplied an introduction dealing with the historical background, the life and works of Claudian, and the manuscript tradition, as well as textual notes dealing with some 75 doubtful passages. Scholars expressed appreciation for the exegetical elements contained in those textual notes and hoped for the appearance of a full commentary.
