My vote for one of the niftiest methodological innovations in the Southeast has to go to the Swift Creek paddle-stamp design matches pioneered by Betty Broyles and greatly advanced by Frankie Snow. In this book we are treated to numerous engaging examples of the many implications of this stylistic twist on refitting. The aesthetic appeal of complicated stamped pottery has perhaps led to an over-emphasis on ceramics for defining Middle Woodland in southern Georgia, northern Florida, and adjoining areas.
