Whales of the World - Hardcover

9780816017348: Whales of the World

Synopsis

Though their impressive size protects them from most natural dangers, intensive hunting has decimated the whale population. This wonderfully illustrated guide covers classification of all the whale families, from blue whales to dolphins and other cetaceans. A uniquely informed text by a world expert realistically examines commercial exploitation of whales and dolphins, and relates dramatic stories of long-ago whale hunts. Photographs and illustrations show these playful creatures leaping, blowing, and swimming. 192 pages, 36 color illus., 85 b/w illus., 6 x 9.
