Synopsis

Erich von Stroheim (1885-1957) is one of film history's giants. Stubborn, arrogant and colourful, his perception of himself as an artist led to conflicts with producers and studio executives who complained about the inflated budgets and extraordinary length of his films. When his notorious antics got him banned from directing, he turned to acting; his portrayals of evil characters earned him the eipthet ""The Man You Love to Hate"".
