Making money didn't mean I was a "girl with cash" -- it meant that lots of money passed through my fingertips but I didn't know how to make it work for me. I was a woman who went to work on Wall Street, was privy to the Wall Street talk -- and thought that I went to this movie of money, and missed the ending. That is, until I discovered that Wall Street doesn't teach a "girl to have cash". And see, I had to call my book "A Girl Needs Cash" because, first of all, a guy couldn't have written a book with that title! and second, I wanted to make it clear that with all of my MBA, Wall Street investment banking experience, and ability to make money -- I was still missing some essential pieces. I, too, am a girl (or woman) in the process of growing up in my financial life. And it's fun, now each day I'm smarter -- and have shared my journey with you in my book. What I determined is that I needed to build a "money machine" to assure that I would have the "dignity money" that I would need in the future, let's say when I chose to stop working. And since, if you are healthy through age 50 your life expectancy is 93, it's high time that we all learn to be girls with cash. Because, as Sophie Tucker says, in the opening quote in my book - "From birth to age 18, a girl needs good parents; from 18 to 35, she need good looks; from 35 to 55 she needs a good personality; and from 55 on, a girl needs cash! The six women in the hottub range from a 21 year old trying to learn to live on her salary, to a 40-something working woman, to a woman who is managing money left to her by her husband -- and as they share their tales of money, they grow understanding about the way money plays in their lives and what actions will improve the quality of their lives.
