Ceramics with Mixed Media is a practical handbook that shows how to combine a variety of materials with ceramics for functional, decorative, or sculptural reasons. A finished ceramic piece can be embellished with a woven or metal handle, with a glass lid, or with a wooden stand. Ceramic elements can be brought together with metal or textile fixings or links, and materials such as driftwood or distressed metal can be bolted together with the ceramic piece or joined with modern bonding methods.
In this book, Joy Bosworth examines the best techniques of combining and fitting these materials together - including some inside the kiln. She covers the practicalities and specific problems that occur when trying to join different materials together. Helpful step-by-step illustrations are included along with many contemporary artists' work which will both inform and inspire the reader.

About the Author:

Joy Bosworth is a well-known British potter whose work has appeared in a number of publications. She teaches ceramics at Birmingham University and the University of Central England. She is a member of the Craft Potters Association.
