Author's Notes
This was the first book I wrote and I spent more time researching its contents than the 14 others I've written since. I not only did as much field research as possible by hunting whitetail and mule deer, I read everything I could get my hands on that had been written on the subject at the time. The effort obviously paid off. The book's 1st edition was published as a hard cover and then was reprinted as a soft cover. I've since revised the book and it is now in its second edition and continues to sell well. I'm grateful for all of the deer hunters hungry for information on the subject.

This book has chapters about all of the major hunting methods, how to select a gun (rifle, shotgun, handgun or muzzleloader) or bow to hunt with, hunting with a camera, deer biology, behavior, management, hunting ethics, how to have a successful hunt without getting a deer and much more. Other books I've written about deer hunting since this one are STAND HUNTING FOR WHITETAILS, TRACKING WOUNDED DEER and GREAT MICHIGAN DEER TALES.
