Synopsis
Iti is the mid-1930s -- the time of the Great Depression. F.D.R. is in the White House, Hitler has risen to power in Germany and, in Boston, something not quite kosher is going on at the Classic Clothing Company. But so what if it is? Belle Appleman, the young widow recently hired for hte Pants department, knows how lucky she is thta her friend from Evening English, Nate Becker, was able to get her the job at all.

Why "Death and Blintzes" is interesting reading.
Belle Appleman, the amateur detective and heroine of "Death and Blintzes", exemplifies the optimism and hope of American life during the Great Depression. And when she pushes her nose into murders, you can bet that the killers don't stand a chance. As authors of this novel, we tried to bring the period of the mid-1930's back to life. As one reviewer wrote: "This novel is set in the Depression but it's anything but depressing." The New York Times Book Review wrote, "There is no desperate attempt to recreate the period of the 1930's.
