From the Author:
A "My Fair Lady" tale with a twist!
Some time ago, I read a Regency in which an impoverished duke threatened to marry off his daughter to a wealthy Cit. The threat turned out to be an empty one, as the lady was eventually married to a peer of the realm, but it caught my interest. I've read dozens--perhaps hundreds--of Regencies, and while several of them had heroes who married the daughters of wealthy Cits, these young ladies always had the veneer of gentility: they'd been educated at a Bath seminary, for instance, where they were introduced to the manners and mores of the aristocracy. What would happen, I wondered, if a member of this class--a female in this case--were forced by economic necessity to marry a wealthy man with no pretensions to gentility at all? Would she "refine" him? Would she learn to love him anyway? This is the premise of THE WEAVER TAKES A WIFE, a Regency "My Fair Lady" tale with a twist. I fell in love with the unpolished Mr. Brundy, and I hope you will, too!
About the Author:
At age sixteen, Sheri Cobb South discovered Georgette Heyer, and came to the startling realization that she had been born into the wrong century. Although she doubtless would have been a chambermaid had she actually lived in Regency England, that didn’t stop her from fantasizing about waltzing the night away in the arms of a handsome, wealthy, and titled gentleman. Since Georgette Heyer was dead and could not write any more Regencies, Ms. South came to the conclusion she would have to do it herself. She is the author of several Regency romances, including the critically acclaimed THE WEAVER TAKES A WIFE, as well as a series of Regency-set mysteries featuring Bow Street Runner John Pickett and Lady Fieldhurst, the beautiful widow he loves from afar. A native of Alabama, Ms. South now lives in Loveland, Colorado.
