And the means used effectually to advance the same, set forth in certain letters sent from there declaring a purpose of printing the scriptures in the Indian tongue into which they are already translated. With which letters are likewise sent an epitome of some exhortations delivered by the Indians at a fast, as testimonies of their obedience to the gospel. As also some helps directing the Indians how to improve natural reason unto the knowledge of the true God. Due to the age and scarcity of the original we reproduced, some pages may be spotty, faded or difficult to read. Written in Old English.
About the Author
Edward Reynolds, a covenanter, was one of the Divines at the Westminster Assembly and a frequent preacher in London. One of the most influential and eloquent Puritans, he was chosen Vice-Chancellor of Christ Church University in 1648, and was made chaplain to the King in 1660.
