About the Author:

Pam Henderson was reared on a diversified livestock and grain farm in central Illinois that continues to support four farming generations. A graduate of the University of Illinois, this award-winning writer has worked for Prairie Farmer as well as Farm Journal. Beyond agriculture, she writes frequently about the state of Illinois for newspapers and magazines.

Growing up in the central Illinois flatlands and graduating from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, writer Jan Mathew often yearned to live someplace far more exotic than the Land of Lincoln. She managed to get as far as neighboring Iowa and Indiana before leapfrogging back to her home state in 2000 — and deciding that "exotic" lies in the eye of the beholder.
