A perfect compliment to the book reviewed earlier(Harley_Davidson Co Motor Archive) it takes twelve of the images from the book with a brief explanatory passage beneath and could only be improved by using more mainstream images. Don't mind me: I'm just a little disappointed that I'm going to have to look at a Shortster for the entire month of May, which should be a happy month 'cos my birthday's in it. Mind you, everyone who has entered the photo competition except one will be miffed when November comes round because they'll be looking at a 1958 Panhead in precisely those colours for a whole month: Still, at least they'll have found out that it was a colour scheme produced specifically for the Shriners by the time December comes round. --American V , October 2008

This ones for all you Harley fans, this is an official Harley Davidson product featuring a selection of motorcycles from Harley Davidson s private collection. From an Aermacchi-Harley Davidson produced mini bike called the Shortster ,some really nice examples of early big twins through to the rare 1942 Model XA which was a big departure for Harley during the war with its BMW style engine and shaft drive. A very cool and my favourite of the bunch Harley Servicar from 1971, these 3 wheelers were in production for some considerable time before finally ceasing production in 1973 and for all you race rep types is the 1994 VR 1000 Road Racer in street trim, a bike built in limited numbers so that Harley could qualify for the Superbike series that year. About the Author:

Randy Leffingwell wrote his first book, American Muscle, in 1989 while still on staff at the Los Angeles Times. Since then, he has authored another 47 titles for Motorbooks and its sister publisher Voyageur Press covering subjects from sports cars to motorcycles to farm tractors. Leffingwell is considered one of the top Corvette historians working today, and he enjoys a close working relationship with Chevrolet as well numerous other manufacturers. His previous Corvette titles include Art of the Corvette; Corvette Fifty Years, Corvette 60 Years, and Legendary Corvette. He lives in Santa Barbara, California.

Darwin Holmstrom has written, co-written, or contributed to over thirty books on subjects ranging from motorcycles and muscle cars to Gibson Les Paul guitars, including Indian Motorcycles, GTO: Fifty Years, Let's Ride: Sonny Barger's Guide to Motorcyclying, Top Muscle: The Rarest Cars from America's Fastest Decade, BMW Motorcycles, The Life Harley-Davidson, and The Complete Idiot's Guide to Motorcycles. Darwin is the senior editor for Motorbooks. Prior to that he served as Midwestern editor for Motorcyclist magazine.
