Farewell to the White Cockade tells the tragic story of Bonnie Prince Charlie and his life-long exile trying to enlist support to recover his father's throne. From the court of Louis XV in Versailles to the dock yards of Antwerp, Charles Edward Stuart narrowly avoids spies and assassins at every turn. Betrayed by his wife and brother, his dreams slowly fade and the Prince is sustained only by his own gritty courage, faith and an illegitimate daughter, Charlotte, whose life is dogged by a more perilous fate than her father could ever have imagined.

Elaine K. Dakers was born in 1905 and her first novel was published when she was just seventeen. A versatile and dynamic author, Jane Lane wrote over forty works of fiction, biography, history, and children s books. She is perhaps best known for her books about the Stuart period and 18th century Scotland, written from a Catholic and Royalist perspective.
