Reading the comments made by the readers on Amazon is always interesting and often illuminating. One reader said the story of Fulke FitzWarin is more of a romance than historical fiction. I took it as a compliment since the novel is indeed based in part on the authentic Medieval 'Romance of Fouke FitzWaryn' which tells the epic story of an underdog's struggle against royal oppression.
If a romance is a larger than life tale, then the character of Fouke FitzWaryn (based on a man who was living, breathing flesh) fits into such a framework like a hand-crafted coat of mail.
I hope that readers enjoy discovering his story, just as much as I enjoyed writing it!
