Drew Slocombe, first encountered in my novel 'Dark Undertakings' is now running his own funeral business, specialising in 'green' burials in a field behind his house. Things have started slowly but promisingly, after three months in business. But suddenly, there's one corpse too many - someone has buried an elderly woman in Peaceful Repose Cemetery, three months BEFORE it opened for official business. Drew is passionately against the modern American-style cremations, and has offended many people in the funeral industry. Now his wife is finding him a lot less attentive than he once was. Troubles are befalling him on every side. To make matters worse, he finds himself strongly attracted to the volatile Genevieve, who comes to him for help. Fortunately he has Maggs, his young and very enthusiastic assistant, to keep him sane... Having worked for an undertaker for 7 years, I inevitably formed my own opinions as to how a funeral is best conducted. Drew does, to some degree, reflect some of these opinions.
