This edition makes a new translation of two of François Zourabichvili's most important writings on the philosophy of Gilles Deleuze available in a single volume. 'Deleuze: A Philosophy of the Event' (1994) is an exposition of Deleuze's philosophy as a whole. The complementary Deleuze's Vocabulary (2003) analyses Deleuze's key concepts in a dictionary form. The introduction, by Deleuze experts Gregg Lambert and Daniel W. Smith, explains the key themes and arguments of Zourabichvili's work.

From the publication of his 'Deleuze: A Philosophy of the Event' (PUF, 1994, 2004) until his untimely death in 2006, François Zourabichvili was regarded as one of the most important new voices in contemporary philosophy in France and one of Deleuze's most prominent commentators. Greg Lambert is Associate Professor of English and Textual Studies at Syracuse University. He is the author of 'The Non-Philosophy of Gilles Deleuze' (Continuum, 2002), 'Report to the Academy' (Davies, 2001), and 'The Return of the Baroque: Art, Culture, and Theory in the Modern Age' (Continuum, forthcoming). Daniel W. Smith is Associate Professor of Philosophy at Purdue University and one of the world's leading commentators on Deleuze. He has translated his work, edited collections and written numerous articles on Deleuze. Kieran Aarons is a fellow at the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.
