Wotan is immortal, the mightiest man ever born. His strength is limitless: he lifts thirty men with one arm. He wins every battle he fights. His virility is legendary: he sleeps with thousands of the most powerful and beautiful women of their day. His mother claims his father is God Himself. To be sure, Wotan embarks on an epic journey of discovery spanning six thousand years. Wotan's search has brought him to America where he's visited by the Son closest to God: Jesus Christ. But the climax of Wotan's quest does not occur until now, 2012, when the Devil himself tempts Wotan in a shocking, final confrontation. Only now will Wotan be sure to whom he belongs...

Review:
'ERA is a a page-turning epic on a breathtaking scale... Fascinating and gripping, a novel like no other I have read' Newcastle Journal
From the Author:
You'll live forever. What do you do next?
In the Central American jungle, a party of Mormon archaeologists has just discovered startling evidence that confirms beyond doubt that Jesus Christ visited America. Meanwhile, back at the hotel, Dr Winona Wotan is giving birth to her first daughter. Can it really be that a precise copy of the Temple of Solomon has been built two thousand years ago in Belize, on the site of the fabled city of Zarahemla? Only one person knows the whole story. Wotan walks through the jungle to the scene of a massacre both ancient and modern, a story that started a long, long time ago . . . I wrote Era because it's the book - I wrote my first book when I was eleven - I wanted to write all my life. When I was sixteen I left school to write a novel about Gilgamesh, the first superhero of the first epic ever written, because I thought that anyone who could write a modern version of that wonderful story would be writing simply the greatest book ever. But I wasn't old enough, didn't know enough, couldn't connect everything up. Era does do that, connects the present with the past, legend with historical fact, truth with belief, in a story that kicks off six thousand years ago and comes, by way of the great epic legends of ancient Mesopotamia, through the developing civilisations and beliefs of the ancient Middle East and Egypt, to illuminate our own lives today. The question this novel asks is Why. Why are we born? Why are we as we are? Why do we believe what we believe? At the kernel of Truth, is there a core of fact? And I wanted to have fun. Era is great fun. The central character is immortal. Does have the strength of thirty men (at least!) Does drink and fight and enjoy the company of the opposite sex and do all the things we're not supposed to. And enjoys it! Yet on another level this is a serious and thought-provoking examination. The scholarship is as precise as can be. The background and history is authentic. Era (like Sion which it follows) assumes that the Bible, whether Jewish, Catholic, Protestant, Mormon, is true. Era assumes we don't believe things for no reason. But Era also asks: what if Satan is factually true, a real existent entity? And what if Jesus really did come in the flesh to America?
