Synopsis
This is a gripping thriller dramatising the final campaign of the "Desert Fox". North Africa, 1943. FM Rommel of the German Afrikakorps is at the end of his tether. He's sick, defeated by British General Montgomery and out of favour with Hitler. He decides to achieve one more victory over the 'new boys', the Americans who have just arrived in Tunisia. Veteran Capt. Sharf leads the elite Brandenburger unit through the trackless desert to spring a surprise on the Americans, led by Anglophobe General Fredendall. The only man who might warn the Americans is Colonel Nichols, a very British ex-Oxford don. The ensuing battle is a rout. Rommel has his final victory - only to be ordered to take poison by Hitler a year later. "Rommel's Last Battle" is a fast-moving adventure story set under the African sky and based on facts, displaying the ironic sadness of Rommel's final triumph and the defeat of the USA's first venture into the Middle East.
