Deep in the African bush, the young animals are all practising hard: the baby stork is trying to fly, the baby chameleon to change colour, the baby fruit bat to hang from a branch. But Shukudu the baby rhino can't practice being a rhinoceros because he has no horns. First he has to learn patience.

Jenny Stow gained a BA in English and History of Art from Manchester, before going on to study at Chelsea School of Art. Between 1982 and 1985 she spent four years teaching in Africa, followed by a year in the Caribbean in 1987. Jenny is married with one son.
