This is an Arabic translation of Maeve Binchy's bestseller short stories (Central Line), presented in the form of parallel text, with the Arabic part fully vocalized. It's your first step towards reading authentic Arabic material (or English, for the Arabic speaking reader). The translator, and publisher of this book, is Ms Samia Adnan, a professional Teacher of Arabic as a foreign language. Here is a book to read in Arabic, and enjoy, without the frustration of consulting a dictionary, fighting with pronunciation or wrestling with cultural issues.

(Translators biography): Samia Adnan's experience with teaching foreign languages dates back to the early seventies when she taught French and English as foreign languages both in the Sudan and abroad. She obtained her MA in teaching Arabic as a foreign language at the American University in Cairo, and taught at the AUC and at the university of London (SOAS) where she felt the lack of extra curricular material for her students to read ouside the classroom. She also carries a PGD in Arabic/English translation with distinction and a two years experience in translation with the ILO, UN. Ms Adnan is of Sudanese origin and currently lives in London with her two daughters, Zeena and Farah. Her son Ahmed is a microbiologist in Montreal, Canada.
Everyday the London underground is crowded with millions of passengers, none of whom has any effect on the others. Except on Maeve Binchy, who could see through the crowds of standing and seated passengers. She tells us stories from the lives of some passengers she chose from the different stations on the Central Line from Shepherd's Bush to Chancery Lane, in her magnificently simple style and irresistible humour. Eleven interesting stories as if told by a friend you love to hear.
