Princeton published Free Verse: An Essay on Prosody in 1980; it sold out in a few years. Since it went out of print, a number of people--especially those teaching poetry workshops --have requested a reprint. Now Northwestern University Press is reissuing the book in an inexpensive paperback. It's identical to the original edition, except that the Appendix, "Full Texts of Three Quoted Poems," has been eliminated. (The permissions fees were exorbitant.) The book is as much about poetry, I hope, as about the particular methods that free verse has adopted.
