Ce rocher, dit M. Bertrand, d'aprés Amand, est formé de brèches volcaniques. Il recouvre le gypse et le calcaire d'eau douce; il repose immédiate ment snr des sables jaunàtres. Fanjas de Saint Fond dit qu'il est entièrement composé de la ves poreuses, de fragments de basa1te, de gros noyaux de quartz, de granit, de noeuds de*pierre calcaire ordinairement altérée, avec quelques por tions de spath calcaire sain et intact.
