About the Author:

With roots in the mountains of Puerto Rico, Dr. Tekina-eir� Maynard is a proud blood descendant of the native Ta�nos who call the island Borik�n. With a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, she’s an innovator with 11 patents and has an expertise that spans a range of disciplines. Dr. Maynard is a consecrated elder of El Concilio Ta�no Guatu-Ma-cu a Borik�n, a Ta�no pueblo in restoration based in the mountains of Cayey, Puerto Rico. She is a Tekina-Suania – a teacher of native Ta�no traditions in the Americas, and a leader of ceremonial dance.

Con ra�ces en las monta�as de Puerto Rico, la Dra. Tekina-eir� Maynard es una descendiente de sangre orgullosa de los nativos Ta�nos que llaman a la isla Borik�n. Con un doctorado en Ingenier�a El�ctrica y Computadoras de la Carnegie Mellon University, ella es una innovadora con 11 patentes y su experiencia abarca una gama de disciplinas. Dra. Maynard es una abuela consagrada de El Concilio Ta�no Guatu-Ma-cu a Borik�n, un pueblo Ta�no en la restauraci�n basada en la sierra de Cayey, Puerto Rico. Ella es una Tekina-Suania – una maestra de las tradiciones Ta�na en las Am�ricas, y una l�der de la danza ceremonial.
