About the Author:
With roots in the mountains of Puerto Rico, Dr. Tekina-eirú Maynard is a proud blood descendant of the native Taínos who call the island Borikén. With a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, she’s an innovator with 11 patents and has an expertise that spans a range of disciplines. Dr. Maynard is a consecrated elder of El Concilio Taíno Guatu-Ma-cu a Borikén, a Taíno pueblo in restoration based in the mountains of Cayey, Puerto Rico. She is a Tekina-Suania – a teacher of native Taíno traditions in the Americas, and a leader of ceremonial dance.

Con raíces en las montañas de Puerto Rico, la Dra. Tekina-eirú Maynard es una descendiente de sangre orgullosa de los nativos Taínos que llaman a la isla Borikén. Con un doctorado en Ingeniería Eléctrica y Computadoras de la Carnegie Mellon University, ella es una innovadora con 11 patentes y su experiencia abarca una gama de disciplinas. Dra. Maynard es una abuela consagrada de El Concilio Taíno Guatu-Ma-cu a Borikén, un pueblo Taíno en la restauración basada en la sierra de Cayey, Puerto Rico.
