Based on the small version of "The House Cat", this book is intended as a whole class teaching resource used by teachers to teach reading and writing conventions. It tells the story of Tom Cat who lives in a house with two families; he is the House Cat. At the beginning of the story the two households are described, and it is immediately apparent that the two abodes within the house - upstairs and downstairs - provide settings for the House Cat which are very different from each other.
