About the Author:

Lewis Barker received an A.B. in Psychology from Occidental College in Los Angeles and completed an M.A. and Ph.D. in Psychology from Florida State University. His first teaching position was at Baylor University, where he discovered that he loved teaching as much as research. As a professor of Psychology and Neuroscience at Baylor University for 28 years, he has taught thousands of students in over twenty courses and laboratories. Over the years, he has published numerous research articles, authored book chapters, and contributed to edited volumes. He is also the author of Learning and Behavior, now in its third edition with Prentice Hall, a textbook in the general area of how humans and other animals learn.

Lewis has been the recipient of teaching awards from Psi Chi (a national honorary organization in psychology) and University teaching awards from both Baylor and FSU for dedication, persistence and effort. Currently the Chair of the Department of Psychology at Auburn University, he continues to teach a variety of courses.

Married with four daughters, Lewis reads, runs, bikes, and writes in his spare time, and travels often to keep in touch with an extended family, including his children and their significant others, and two grandchildren, all living in Texas.
