241pp , IN ENGLISH, ::: ABOUT THE AUTHOR Michael Dibdin ( March 21, 1947 until March 30, 2007 ) was a British author of crime .Dibdin born in Wolverhampton , the son of a physician, and was educated from the age of seven in Lisburn, Northern Ireland, where he attended Friends School . He graduated with a BA in English from the University of Sussex, and then went to study a Masters at the University of Alberta in Edmonton , Canada. After publishing his first novel, a Sherlock Holmes pastiche , he lived for four years in Italy , teaching at the University of Perugia. Lately lived in Seattle , Washington. Dibdin was married three times, most recently to the novelist KK Beck. He died in Seattle , Washington, after a short enfermedad..Dibdin is best known for his Aurelio Zen mysteries , located in Italy. The first, Ratking won the ' Gold Dagger Award " 1988. This series of detective novels provide a penetrating vision of the less visible aspects of Italian society in the last twenty years. The previous books have a lightness of touch which gradually becomes much darker . the character itself Zen is anti - heroic , which adds much to the irony of books and black humor. a Zen latest book , End Games , appeared posthumously in July 2007. he also wrote other detective works established in the United States and England .
