Each lesson begins with a dialogue about everyday experiences, providing a context for the words and phrases introduced. The dialogue is followed by a "grammar and usage" section that explains key grammatical concepts introduced in the dialogue, allowing for broader application of the material covered. The first ten lessons also include a pronunciation section focusing on the key sounds of the language. Each chapter contains cultural notes to provide a glimpse of life in the foreign country. There are two sets of recordings - the first consists of four hours in the foreign language alone, to be used in conjunction with the manual. The second set of bi-lingual recordings review and expand upon the material covered in the manual, and allows the student to participate in coversation and to generate their own phrases and sentences.
