This book dealt with infringments of UK Sovereignty by the US, mainly but not only in the high technology and nuclear fields. It is based on a famous letter by IBM Inc, advising it's UK customers with large computers that they could not move them within the UK without an American export licence. Much of the books contents were debated in Parliament and Paddy Ashdown, now Lord Ashdown, championed the matter in the House of Commons. There were over 2,500 cuttings relating to the book and its contents on file around the world at one time.

For many years the United States has been imposing US export regulations on the sale of computer technology both from and within the U.K. This book makes - and finally substantiates - the following charges: That the UK Constitution has been seriously infringed by the US; That the CIA has sought to inhibit European countries from trading with the Soviet Bloc, while at the same time the US has been shipping 300 million dollars' worth of computers behind the Iron Curtain each year; That UK companies have been raided and searched by CIA agents and thousands of UK citizens have been forced to sign contracts requiring them to obey US law, or lose their jobs; That the CIA has conducted a massive operation in Europe involving 200 agents over 18 months, aimed at legitimate European businesses, many of which have been put on a CIA blacklist of 300 companies.
