Eine neue Untersuchung beginnt jetzt (p. 3 1 b) scheinbar ohne Vermittelung mit dem Vorigen. Um ihren Zusammenhang mit dem bisherigen Gedankengang des Dialogs zu erkennen, müssen wir auf Früheres zurückgreifen. Im c. IX wurde, wie wir wissen, die Forderung aus gesprochen, dass man Lust und Einsicht in ihre Arten theilen müsse, um ihr Wesen zu begreifen. Diesen Weg hatte der Dialog nicht weiter verfolgt; auf dem neuen Wege, den er mit e. K nahm, hat er, wie wir jetzt überschauen, zuerst bewiesen, dass weder Lust noch Einsicht das Gute sind sodann zweitens, welchen Gattungen beide angehören. Es folgt nunmehr die Erfüllung der früheren Forderung, der Nachweis, in welche Arten Lust und Einsicht ihrerseits zerfallen. Dass dies der Gedanken des Schriftstellers war, zeigen die Worte: oi;rup ylro; chi; nehmer 3 1 b. Die Worte: fr 15 n' einer éxaireper aözei'r xai 1! 110500: yc'yreeoer enthalten eine Bezeichnung der eiöq, wie aus der Vergleichung mit p. 32 b deutlich hervorgeht.
