Excerpt from Sermon: Preach'd Before the Honourable House of Commons, at St. Margaret's Westminster, on Saturday, January XXX. 1730
As free, and not using your liberty for a cloak of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.
The Struggles, that have been between Kings and Subjects concerning their respective Rights, and the many Mischiefs to which Both have been exposed by them, are to Us, who have the Happiness to live in better Times, a good Warning to avoid the Errors which produced them.
The Tragedy of this Day, with the Steps which led to it, is a Lesson of this kind as instructive in all Views, as any that can be found in History.
