Source of the story:
I was driving three seven year olds home from swimming lessons. They spent the whole time telling fart jokes. I couldn't believe it. Then I thought, "Wait - these are the people I write for!" The next day I made up, for a grade 4, a fart story using the same distancing as in gestalt therapy. They fell of their chairs and rolled on the floor. Nobody wanted to publish it. It started telling it at teachers conventions as an example of "neat stories that would never see print".
