Aber es scheint, als habe der Begriff einer schonen Stadt sich seit 200 Jahren etwas gewandelt. Pöllnitz weiß gar nichts zu erzählen von der schönen Lage Dresdens im Elbtale, wie er auch über Meißens herrliche Lage nicht ein Wort verliert. Er spricht ebensowenig von der schönen inneren Anlage Dresdens. Was ihm in der schönsten Stadt starken Eindruck macht, sind im wesentlichen die Bauwerke, die eben als Wunderwerke an geführt wurden, dazu die Kunstschätze Augusts des Starken. Be merkenswert ist dabei noch, daß er über den Zwinger durchaus abfällig urteilt.
