Synopsis
Designed for intermediate-level students, Aventuras literarias assembles over 50 authentic and accessible literary selections by classical and contemporary Spanish and Latin American writers. Packaged with a free 90-minute recording of key selections, the 12 chapters of the text progress from simpler, shorter readings to lengthier or more complex works. Aventuras literarias includes brief introductory information, in Spanish, on the author and style of each reading, along with glosses and footnotes that define new vocabulary terms and explain cultural points. Vocabulary exercises, comprehension questions, literary analyses, and discussion and composition activities also enrich students' understanding.

About the Author
Ana C. Jarvis, a native of Paraguay, was born in Asuncion and attended school in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She received her Ph.D. in Spanish from the University of California, Riverside, in 1973. Dr. Jarvis retired from Chandler-Gilbert Community College after a long and distinguished career. Prior to CGCC, she taught at Mesa Community College; the University of California, Riverside; San Bernardino Valley College; Brigham Young University; and Riverside City College. In addition to authoring numerous Spanish textbooks, she has published several short stories in Spanish. In 1988, she was chosen as Faculty Member of the Year" at Chandler-Gilbert Community College."
