Octogenarian Diana Hepworth has lived with her family on Pigeon, a tiny place in the furthest corner of the Solomon Islands for more than 50 years. When the former Vogue model decided to turn the fascinating events of her life into a book, she went to fellow adventurer Lucy Irvine for help. Many people will be familiar with Irvine, she was the woman who was thrust into the limelight after answering an ad in Time Out "writer seeks 'wife' for year on Tropical Island". The resulting book, Castaway, spawned a film of the same name.
Despite her wanderlust, Irvine was initially reluctant to swap her home her secluded Scotland home to take up Hepworth's offer. It was her children's thirst for adventure that eventually persuaded her to book the flights. The result is a compelling book about Diana Hepworth and her family intertwined with the story of Lucy Irvine and her family.
