The numbers say it all. This is novel number 47. Over 500 million Danielle Steel novels have been sold the world over. The market for Dating Game is described by her publisher as 'millions of loyal fans'. It seems safe to conclude, then, that the new novel by Danielle Steel does not represent a radical new departure for the author. She has not discovered chick-lit or cyberpunk. Dating Game is not an experimental novel, except in the sense that it is always an interesting experiment testing whether you can produce the same result with the same formula. Condensed version? Thrust into the world of contemporary dating by an unexpected divorce, Paris Armstrong eventually triumphs through adversity. Not to all tastes, but 'millions of loyal fans' evidently disagree.
