Dem Inhalte nach soll meine Arbeit der erste Versuch sein, mit einer Lebensskizze houbrakens als Einleitung, seine Groote Schon burgh kritisch zu behandeln und insofern es m�glich ist, seine Quellen nachzuweisen. Was dar�ber hinausgeht, liegt ausserhalb des Rahmens dieses Buches. Unber�cksichtigt geblieben ist also in der Regel jede Nachricht‚ f�r die mir keine Quelle bekannt war, und die von mir ge�bte Kritik hat sich nur auf houbrakens Entlehnungen, nicht aber auch auf die Controle der von seinen Quellen als wahr hingestellten Tatsachen erstreckt. Ich h�tte sonst gleichzeitig eine Quellenkritik San drarts, de Bie's usw. Usw. Und f�nf B�nde statt einen schreiben m�ssen.
Dieser Einschr�nkung des Stoffes steht eine Ausdehnung gegen�ber.
