Elizabeth is indignant when the anarchic Animal Liberation Front (ALF) places a poster in the window of her shop. Furious with the terrorist approach used for their campaign, she enlists the help of her handsome private eye neighbour, Max Shepard, to try and stop their attacks. But when the spiteful, wealthy Joanna Drew is murdered, and blame is directed at the ALF, Elizabeth is unconvinced. She joins the Wetherburn Museum of quilting owned and run by the Drews as a guest lecturer, and there discovers the complicated web of interrelationships that exists amongst the members of the Drew family. With Max's help, Elizabeth has to find the killer, before the killer finds them.
