About the Author:

TANYA AGATHOCLEOUS is a graduate student at Rutgers University. Her dissertation investigates cosmopolitan visions of the Victorian city. She has contributed to The Cambridge Companion to George Eliot and written a biography of George Orwell for Oxford University Press.

ANN DEAN is Assistant Professor of English and Director of College Writing at the University of Southern Maine. She teaches and writes about 18th century Anglo-American writing and cosmopolitan studies.
