About the Author:

STEPHEN HEATH lives and works in Cambridge, where he is a Fellow of Jesus College.

COLIN MacCABE is Distinguished Service Professor of English and Film at the University of Pittsburgh where he has taught since 1985. Since 1998 he has also taught as Professor of English at Exeter University and produced for Minerva Pictures. His most recent book is Godard: A Portrait of the Artist at Seventy (2003).

DENISE RILEY is Reader in the School of English and American Studies at the University of East Anglia, Norwich. Her books include War in the Nursery: Theories of the Child and Mother (1983), Am I That Name ? Feminism and the Category of 'Women' in History (1988) and The Words of Selves: Identification, Solidarity, Irony (2000). She edited Poets on Writing; Britain, 1970-199l (l1992) and she was Writer-in-Residence in 1996 at the Tate Gallery, London. Her most recent collection of poetry, following Penguin Modern Poets Vol 10 with Ian Sinclair and Douglas Oliver (1996) is Denise Riley: Selected Poems, 2000.
