About the Author:

Brenda Carty has lived in the Caribbean for more than forty years. She is a teacher by profession and taught in England and in Trinidad where she was the principal of a primary school. She married in Trinidad and has two children.

Brenda has been visiting Anguilla since 1962 and knows all aspects of the island very well. She has lived in Anguilla since 1987 and has an in-depth knowledge of the island-its people, its beaches, flora, fauna and culture. She is a journalist and has written for several newspapers on a daily basis and also writes feature articles, especially travel articles. She currently writes for the Daily Herald, a daily regional newspaper, and The Anguillian, a local weekly paper.

In 1993 she wrote a travel book about Anguilla called "Anguilla Beyond the Beaches" that proved to be popular with the tourists. She followed this with "Anguilla: Tranquil Isle of the Caribbean" in 1997, which is a more detailed and in-depth book about the island.
