As a substitute for not winning those glossy magazine make-over competitions, this book aims to teach you all it takes to overhaul your own image (and so really start appreciating the value of panache accessories).

Divided into 10 chapters, chapter one asks you to "accept the makeover challenge" to gauge what level of overhaul you are ready for--beginner, intermediate or advanced. A beginner maybe a career-minded student ready to buy their first blue blazer (a never- regret purchase) or a twentysomething clubber who's eager to seen as chic at the first corporate hospitality event. If your challenge rating indicates the advanced, you're up for a total revamp--be ready for cosmetic surgery and voice training.

The next three chapters home in on "the colour makeover"--the vital image area that's crucial to life happiness (think of all the "born-again blondes" you know). Analysing your colours can tell you whether you should have a light, cool or warm wardrobe--and that can unleash a whole new personality. Famous examples can prove illuminating here--if you find you're of the warm wardrobe brigade, it's helpful to know you should be fashioning yourself on Fergie, Duchess of York.

Chapters eight and nine concern your body makeover and help you determine your silhouette--are you an apple or an inverted triangle? Once ascertained, helpful hints are given as to the clothes that flatter most. There's also a body proportion table that provides a useful checklist of what not to wear with certain bodily dimensions: for ugly knees, the advice is keep them covered; for a long thigh to knee, short skirts are best avoided for fear of looking scandalous. Food and exercise are also broached; jogging 40-50 miles a week is highly recommended as it is a great way to "go burn off that angst woman" so the author writes.

Finally, chapter 10 gives your wardrobe the complete overhaul. Keeping up with the jargon--"dejunking, editing and auditing" should mean you can finally stop wrestling to get anything in and out of it and be left with only this season's wardrobe winners.
